Top 10 Premier League managers of all-time
Over the last two decades, we have been treated to some world-class managers in English football who have tirelessly worked for their respective clubs regardless of where they came from.
Let’s take a look at the top 10 Premier League managers in the last two decades.
10) Roy Hodgson
The 72-year-old is one of the longest-serving managers in Premier League history. Though he never won a league title, he has contributed heftily to English football. Starting his managerial career in Sweden, he went on to manage teams like Liverpool, Fulham and currently Crystal Palace.
9) Claudio Ranieri
The Italian’s time at Chelsea may not be his best but beating the odds and leading Leicester City to a fairytale-like Premier League title in 2015/16 is just incredible. And his inclusion in this list is a justifiable act for what he achieved in English football.
8) Kenny Dalglish
Dalglish may not be remembered for his unsuccessful second spell with Liverpool but leading Blackburn Rovers to the league title in the 1994/95 season is a fantastic achievement. And this comes after beating Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United to the title.
7) Rafa Benitez
He came close to handing Liverpool their first league title and did a marvellous job in lifting Newcastle United to the top. He also led the Reds to a Champions League title and is one of the most famous managers in England’s top-flight.
6) Antonio Conte
He took charge of a Chelsea side that finished 10th in the previous campaign and won the league by seven points, which deserves a lot of credit. Not many managers have worked wonders in their debut season in England as Conte did.
5) Jurgen Klopp
The German tactician has transformed a terrible Liverpool side into title challengers in the past few seasons. After losing the Premier League title by just one point, he has fully established himself as a top manager this season. He has also led the Reds to two Champions League finals, winning it last year.
4) Pep Guardiola
Having won everything with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, Guardiola has worked wonders in England too, guiding Manchester City to several domestic titles.
3) Arsene Wenger
Managing a Premier League team for 22 years is never an easy job but Wenger did it with all his heart and determination. Led the Gunners to three league titles and no one can forget his side that went unbeaten in the 2003/04 campaign. He did an unbelievable job in London for over 2 decades.
2) Jose Mourinho
The special one led Chelsea to their first league win since 1955 and won two successive titles in his first two seasons. He also did a decent job with Manchester United, leading them to the Europa League title before getting sacked.
1) Sir Alex Ferguson
By far, the best manager in Premier League history. In the 21 seasons with United, he led them to 13 league titles. Great players came to Old Trafford and left but Ferguson remained, helping United dominate English football for quite a long time. Simply put, the best manager in football history.
