While Kratos remains enraged, the game still contains scenes of heinous cruelty, and the action remains fluid and vicious, the game’s overall structure and tempo have been radically overhauled. Now you’re free to explore the planet and uncover all of its secrets as you go, and this game has a lot of layers.
The puzzles are brilliant, the set-pieces are spectacular, and Kratos is a much more developed character, especially in his interactions with Atreus, his son. It also helps that the game looks incredible, from the scripted moments to the fluidity with which combat moves, all set in a world that seems alive and full of history. It’s a lot of fun to play, and the game continues beckoning you to dig further and deeper to find all of the hidden treasures.
In Hades, you play as Zagreus, Hades’ son, as he fights to leave the Underworld and ascend Mount Olympus with the help of gifts bestowed on him by the Olympians. You must be living in the deepest, darkest reaches of the abyss if you haven’t heard of this critically regarded roguelike. Hades’ fast-paced gameplay is enhanced by the game’s stunning art design, engaging plot, and fantastic soundtrack. In a nutshell, Hades is a fantastic PS4 game that is a gold standard in its genre.
Everything you loved about Marvel’s Spider-Man is back in the sequel, including great web-swinging, acrobatic combat, and a fresh take on Peter Parker. Even the incredible Manhattan recreation is still in place. The spotlight has shifted to Peter’s protégé Miles Morales, a younger hero attempting to live up to the Spider-Man mantle. Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic saga of life in America’s cruel heartland, created by the developers of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption. Valhalla is the latest installment in Ubisoft’s long-running action/stealth franchise, and it’s a good one. This time, you’ll play as Eivor, a Viking warrior in medieval England who needs to find a new home for his clan. You’ll visit a number of warring kingdoms, assassinate vital targets, fight dangerous Saxons, and even take part in “flyting,” or commonly known as Viking rap battles.
While Assassin’s Creed Valhalla looks and plays great on the PS4, your purchase also includes a PS5 version with improved lighting, richer HDR colors, and a smoother frame rate. Your save data will be transferred as well, however, be aware that transferring achievements can be a pain.
Final Fantasy VII Remake transports players to Midgar, a bleak and bizarre metropolis where a bunch of eco-terrorists fight a ruthless power business hellbent on destroying the globe for profit. In an all-new hybrid turn-based/action-combat system, you accompany ex-SOLDIER Cloud and his misfit companions through a pseudo-futuristic cityscape, fighting security grunts, robots, and mutant monstrosities.
Of course, the RPG’s flexible Materia skill system returns, providing hundreds of ability options for a wide range of character builds. Final Fantasy VII Remake also has a fantastic presentation, with stunning images and music. Despite the fact that it is merely the first episode in a much broader plot, it packs a punch.
Horizon: Zero Dawn presents an astoundingly rich environment to explore and get lost in that is both gorgeous and deep. The Last of Us 2 has arrived, and it was well worth the wait. Ellie is back with a brand-new tale that will punch you in the gut multiple times with the amount of emotion it contains. Brutal violence is paired with one of the most engaging gaming storylines ever, full of moments that will make you rethink everything and leave you with thoughts that I believe will last most of us till the PS6. This is an incredibly ambitious saga that goes beyond everything we could have hoped for in a sequel and is sure to be one of the games that will be spoken about for years.
