It’s that time of the year when the world witnesses the biggest event in all of Sports Entertainment, WrestleMania. There have been some exciting main event matches in all these years at the Grandest Stage of All. Here’s a list of some of the greatest WrestleMania main events of All Time.
5. John Cena (c) vs Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championships- WrestleMania 23
One of the fascinating moments of the match came in the very beginning when John Cena entered his fancy car breaking through the glass. Another thing that stood out was how the crowd was behind Shawn Michaels.
The match went for half an hour with some epic moves and guts from the Superstars. There were several near falls and some breathtaking moments during the game. But yet again, his never-give-up attitude of Cena made him overcome The “Heartbreak Kid.”
4. Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle (c) for the WWE Undisputed Championship- WrestleMania XIX
Probably the most excellent main-event pure wrestling matchup in the history of WWE. Brock Lesnar is a two time NCAA champion, and Kurt Angle is an Olympic Gold Medalist. Both men went above their capabilities in this match.
The stand out of the match will be the Shooting Star Press by Lesnar in the end. Both Superstars gave their best shot, and we’re not ready to give up like that. Lesnar picked up the victory in the end, but it was undoubtedly one of the greatest matches ever in WrestleMania history.
3. Stone Cold vs The Rock (c) for the WWF Title- WrestleMania XV
This was the first of three epic encounters between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock at WrestleMania. The buildup for the match was massive, considering how Vince McMahon won the Royal Rumble. Then Austin defeated McMahon to win a shot at the Main Event of WrestleMania XV.
The match was neck to neck as both superstars improvised their own best moves and were kicked out of near falls. The Rock kicked out of the Stunner, and Stone Cold kicked out of the Rock Bottom and attempted each other’s special moves. The match saw multiple referees getting knocked out.
It was a two on one action as Vince was in The Rock’s corner, creating a distraction for Steve Austin, but The Texas Rattlesnake overcame the odds to defeat The Rock and become the new WWF Champion.
2. The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels (Streak vs Career) match- WrestleMania XXVI
Even though their clash at the WrestleMania 25 is still considered the greatest, this was not much behind and still was one of the greatest matches of all time.
The match saw HBK kicking out of multiple tombstones, which happened for the first time, and some people could sense that the streak could end actually, but he fell just short against The Deadman.
HBK remained retired after this match, which was felt inside the arena among the fans as they thought that this could be Michael’s last match.
1. Hulk Hogan (c) vs Andre, the Giant for the WWF title- WrestleMania III
Many WrestleMania main event matches should have topped this list, but I am putting this as the number since this is the match that led to wrestling’s mainstream popularity.
Every Wrestling fan has heard about this Hulk Hogan vs Andre The Giant match. Andre was at the end of his career, but when you are against someone like Hogan, The energy will remain high.
Hulkamania did the unthinkable as he Slammed Andre The Giant to the floor and became one of the biggest icons of wrestling history. This became one of the greatest WrestleMania moments of all time.
