If there is one thing that Tottenham Hotspur need, it’s another midfielder.
Mauricio Pochettino cashed in on Mousa Dembele in the January transfer window without bringing in a replacement. Dembele was a vital cog in Mauricio Pochettino’s side but he had slowed down in the last couple of years purely due to the recurrent injuries.
Yet, selling the Belgian midfielder to China without signing a replacement was one of the worst decisions Pochettino has taken so far at Tottenham.
Tottenham didn’t spend a single penny in the past two transfer windows which apparently makes the decision to let go Dembele in midst of the campaign a blunder. Hence, it’s important the club invests heavily in the summer.
And a midfielder has to be Pochettino’s top transfer target at any cost. One player the north Londoners should target in the summer is Napoli star, Allan.
Allan, 28, joined Napoli from Udinese in the summer of 2015 and since then has become a crucial player for the team. He has developed into one of the top midfielders in Italy since the last couple of years and with the Brazilian enjoying another good season at Naples, Tottenham have to shatter their transfer records if they are to land him in the summer.
Known for tireless, energetic and box-to-box style of play, Allan provides the drive and urgency to the team needed from the middle of the park. The 28-year-old is a bundle of energy, excels in tackling and intercepting the opposition moves in the final third and adding a calming influence to the midfield.
The Brazilian is a very good passer of the ball and possesses the ability to break the lines with crisp through balls. Allan will be a perfect fit for Tottenham and Pochettino will undoubtedly benefit from having a player of his ball-playing ability.
Pochettino currently has some talented midfielders in his squad such as Victor Wanyama, Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier, Harry Winks, Dele Alli, Moussa Sissoko and Oliver Skipp who are all battling for a place in the first-team.
The addition of Allan would make sense as the Brazilian would help inject a much-needed level of physicality and urgency into Tottenham’s play next season. He would be the perfect supplement to Moussa Sissoko and Eric Dier/Harry Winks in the heart of the Tottenham engine room.

At 28, Allan is playing at the top of his game and has the qualities to thrive in the Premier League. Hence, Tottenham shouldn’t think twice about splashing the cash for the Napoli star as Pochettino and co. would benefit a lot from this signing.
