Julian Brandt is a young German midfielder who currently plies his trade for one of the German Bundesliga’s top clubs – Bayer Leverkusen, where he is often utilised in the left-wing role by the manager. 

Born in 1996 and still only 22 years old, Brandt has certainly made a name for himself in the footballing world and while his performances have motivated various suitors, it’s quite clear that he has the quality and ability to play for one of Europe’s top clubs. 

Having up the ranks at Borgenfeld and then Wolfsburg, Brandt was signed by Leverkusen back in 2014 as a teenager. He has developed into one of the most exciting German wingers and his services are extremely sought after. 

A report from Calcio Mercato has arisen suggesting that Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Liverpool are all keen on signing the German winger who would have a €25m release clause activated in his contract if Leverkusen fail to qualify for the Champions League at the end of the term. 

With that said, one club who could really use the prodigious winger’s services are Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur who should look to pounce and take over the deal in an attempt to lure the German to the newly reopened White Hart Lane rather than Anfield or Santiago Bernabeu. 

His movement down the left hand side would open a whole new avenue of possibilities for this stacked Tottenham attacking and he could easily oust the likes of Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura to a place in the team, given his immense quality.

He has the right attributes to complement the skill-sets of the core Spurs players like Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli. Also, his crosses are considered to be extremely dangerous and for a team that boasts a forward like Harry Kane, signing this youngster would be like striking gold. 

His pace and trickery will suit the pace and dynamism of the English game while Mauricio Pochettino’s distinct attacking style of football could be the ideal system to bring the best out of this talented youngster. 

With 10 assists and 4 goals to his name from the 25 times he’s played in the Bundesliga this season, he has really impressed in a Leverkusen shirt while his 23 caps for his country Germany has enabled him to notch up 2 goals as well.

With the Madrid sides and Liverpool circling, it will certainly be difficult for Spurs to acquire the youngster’s services but if they’re able to pull it off it will be a massive coup by Pochettino which is assured to have positive results for the north-London club.
