Why Arkadiusz Milik will be a good signing for Tottenham Hotspur
According to Tuttosport (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur are keen on a move for Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik.
The 26-year-old Polish striker is currently his side’s top scorer in the league with nine goals from 16 matches. Milik, however, missed a major share of this season owing to injuries. Despite that, Milik has found the back of net regularly when playing, continuing his excellent form from the previous season.
A first-team regular when fit, Milik endured a difficult first two seasons in Italy after switching from former side Ajax in the summer of 2016. But he enjoyed a prolific campaign last time out, scoring an impressive 17 goals from 35 league games, helping Napoli finish second in the Serie A.
Till date, Milik has featured in 109 matches for the Serie A side and has 46 goals to his credit. With the Polish striker’s displays on the pitch clearly improving in the past two years, Tottenham have now shown an interest in bringing him to North London.
Milik a perfect fit at Tottenham
Meanwhile, Tottenham have endured a difficult spell in the league this term, with the club lying a disappointing eighth in the league. To add to their miseries, Spurs lost their star striker Harry Kane to an injury at the beginning of the year.
However, the Englishman is still their top scorer in the league with 11 goals from 20 league games. His unavailability due to injury raised serious concerns regarding Tottenham’s lack of depth in the striking department.
Apart from Kane, Tottenham do not have an out-and-out striker in their side. So they must bring in new players to strengthen their attack ahead of next season.
A two-time Premier League top-scorer (2015-16, 2016-17), Kane is one of the top strikers in the world at the moment and is under the continuous radar of top clubs in Europe. With him attracting interests from clubs such as rivals Manchester United and La Liga giants Real Madrid, it would be wise of Tottenham to continue their pursuit of Milik.
The England national team skipper’s potential departure will leave a huge void to be filled if he opts to move someplace else this summer.

That said, Milik would help fill that void to some extent, being a consistent goal-scorer himself. Even if Kane does not leave, bringing in the Polish international would add some much-needed depth to their attack.
Thus, Tottenham should not waste any more time and land the Polish finisher, who is valued at €50million by Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Verdict
Tottenham lack depth in the striker’s department, with star man Kane being the only centre-forward. And, Milik’s arrival will give them quality depth in the striking department, given that he has impressed for Napoli and Ajax in the past. This should help them better their fortunes under Jose Mourinho next season.
