Why Tottenham should sign Croatian veteran star Ivan Perisic
According to Foot Mercato (h/t Daily Star), Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign Ivan Perisic on loan from Inter Milan. Mourinho is said to be a fan of the winger and he wants a short term deal for him. Spurs are said to be in talks over a deal but face competition for his signature.
Tottenham need an upgrade on Bale
For all of the hullabaloo surrounding Gareth Bale’s return, the Wales international is yet to fire. Injuries and fitness issues haven’t helped either. It is only due to Son and Kane’s form that Spurs are still looking good.
Bale was a fringe player at Real Madrid for the last two seasons and was spending more time on the golf course, while Perisic is fresh off winning a treble with the Bavarians.
Perhaps in a long time, Spurs have one of the best squads in the Premier League. Each and every position looks set with starters and backups as Mourinho hopes to guide the club to a major trophy. They conducted some really good transfer business at the start of the season.
However, there should always be more scope to improve and Ivan Perisic could be an option the club can retry to sign, maybe in January itself. Despite being a left-winger, he has experience of playing on the other flank too. With Heung-Min Son an undisputed starter on the left, Perisic could be deployed on the right.

Perisic can be a good short-term fix
Perisic is extremely versatile and can play in a multitude of positions such as left-wing, right-wing, and attacking midfield. Ivan Perisic is an extremely good utility player who comes with bags of experience in top-level football. Tottenham need someone exactly like Perisic even if it’s on a short-term basis.
Mourinho has been a fan of Perisic since he was the Manchester United manager and wanted to bring him to the club. He should coax the club to sign Perisic as the player fits his style of play. He could benefit the club this season as they search for their first major trophy in years.
