According to a report from the Express, Tottenham are interested in signing Barcelona outcast Malcom in the summer transfer window.
Malcom, 22, joined Barcelona from Bordeaux last summer but has managed just a goal and two assists in 14 La Liga appearances. He has failed to nail down a regular spot under Ernesto Valverde, who according to the Express, is willing to let the Brazilian winger leave after just one season at the Camp Nou.
Tottenham were one of the clubs interested in signing Malcom before he moved to Barcelona. But with the Catalan giants ready to offload the Brazilian, Spurs should reignite their interest and make a move for him in the summer transfer window.
Regardless of Mauricio Pochettino not signing a single player in the last two transfer windows, Tottenham have finished the season fourth in the table as well as reached the Champions League final, where they are due to face Liverpool in a couple of weeks’ time. To take Spurs to the next level, Pochettino will need to reinforce his squad in the summer.
The rise of Dele Alli, Davinson Sanchez, Harry Winks and Harry Kane should serve as proof that Pochettino has what it takes to get the best out of the talents around him. Hence, Malcom could be a fantastic option for Spurs to consider ahead of the new season.
Blessed with blistering pace, technique, dribbling skills and vision, Malcom is an inverted right winger that loves to drift inside on his left and pack a punch on goal from distance. He can distribute the ball well and possesses the ability to unlock the tightest of defences with his movement and creative passing.
The Brazilian is an excellent dribbler which makes him such a useful asset for any team to have in the attack. Malcom can pull of long-range screamers and is also a threat from set-piece situations. At 22, he has a whole career ahead of him but the move to Barcelona has seen him hit a brick wall.
Malcom has a sky-high potential and must leave Barcelona at the end of the season to revive his career. Pochettino could be the ideal manager to make the most out of his talents due to the Argentine tactician’s stellar track record on developing young players.
