According to a report from the Daily Star, Tottenham are considering a £30m move for AC Milan striker Patrick Cutrone as a backup to star forward Harry Kane.
Patrick Cutrone, 21, has scored nine goals for AC Milan in 40 appearances across all competitions this season. The arrival of Krzysztof Piatek has pushed the Italian down the pecking order, with the 21-year-old scoring just twice in 2019.
The report adds that the forward now is a considering a move away from the San Siro at the end of the season. That being said, should Tottenham make a move for Cutrone in the summer?
Absolutely, they should go for the young Italian. It is well-documented and understood that Spurs need more quality and depth in their squad to challenge for trophies. Mauricio Pochettino has done an incredible job while working on a tight budget at Spurs, but now, he needs to add a few players all over the field to take his team to the next level.
Harry Kane has been Tottenham’s undisputed first-choice striker, but he has spent lengthy periods on the sidelines in the last two campaigns due to ankle problems. Spurs have struggled in their attempts to secure a back-up for Kane in the past, with Vincent Janssen struggling to impose himself in north London and Fernando Llorente past his best.
And while Son Heung-min has impressed when called upon, Pochettino should bring in Cutrone to compete with Kane up front, whilst weighing in with goals in the absence of the England international.
A product of the Milan academy, Cutrone made his debut two years ago scoring 27 goals in 87 first-team appearances during his career. He is blessed with excellent pace and movement, and his ability to finish off chances in a flash should make him a great foil for Kane. A lot like the England international, Cutrone is tailor-made for the Premier League and has everything at his disposal to flourish at Tottenham.
The young Italian can outfox defenders, using a combination of skill, pace and power. He loves playing at the shoulder of the last man and is always ready to pounce on any error from the opposition. The 21-year-old’s work ethic is fantastic, as he never gives up and can run tirelessly throughout the game.
Even though the fee asked is a bit high, considering Tottenham’s tight budget, the impact Cutrone can harness is close to many other good players in this Tottenham team.

Thus, Pochettino shouldn’t hesitate to splash the cash and bring the striker to north London this summer.
