Tottenham vs Manchester City prediction: Manchester City line-up

Manchester City travel to North London as they take on Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham side on Sunday in a high-intense Premier League encounter.

Despite the defeat on Tuesday, Pep Guardiola’s men managed to advance to the finals of the EFL Cup on aggregate. However, they haven’t been beaten in their last 5 league games and would be hoping to take maximum points once again from this fixture.

On the other hand, Tottenham have struggled and have to continue without their talisman Harry Kane. They need to put in a strong performance and keep themselves in the fight for a top-four finish.

Team News

Frenchman Aymeric Laporte is still facing fitness issues and could be left out once again after missing the game against the Red Devils.

Probable Manchester City XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Ederson (GK)

The Brazilian was rested against city rivals United in the last outing but is expected to start this time. He is the first choice in goal for the Cityzens.

Joao Cancelo (RB)

The 25-year-old was not at his best in the EFL Cup tie, playing in a different position but is expected to start ahead of Kyle Walker. He will be crucial in going forward.

John Stones (CB)

The Englishman is having a poor season so far but the fitness issue of Laporte would allow him to return to the line up once again after benched on Tuesday.

Nicolas Otamendi (CB)

The Argentine started the last game in the absence of Fernandinho and Laporte but hasn’t been convincing enough. He is expected to retain his spot.

Oleksandr Zinchenko (LB)

Zinchenko has returned from a knee injury but has not been given much game time. An excellent left-back, he should be given a chance since Mendy is out with an injury concern.

Kevin De Bruyne (RCM)

He has been a great asset to the team. His killer passes have proven to be match-winning at many occasions. City’s midfield would be incomplete without the Belgian. He should start without any competition for this position.

Rodri (CDM)

Rodri has been a consistent member in Guardiola’s squad but he has not done enough to claim the spot for himself. He needs to prove himself with the opportunities he is getting ahead of Ilkay Gundogan.

David Silva (LCM)

He is in the final few months of his contract with the club and has been of immense help to the team. In a crunch fixture like this, Silva must be given the nod ahead.

Raheem Sterling (LW)

The winger’s last goal came in the league came against Wolves. After a poor show against United, he needs to gather confidence and deliver for City.

Bernardo Silva (RW)

The Portuguese has been growing from strength to strength after losing form in the initial stages. He will be a key member of this fixture and will undoubtedly start ahead of Riyad Mahrez.

Sergio Aguero (ST)

He should start ahead of Gabriel Jesus in big games. A clinical finisher, Aguero will be hoping to add to his tally of 16 league goals in this campaign.
