Why Tottenham should beat Man United to sign David Brooks in summer
According to the Express, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is eyeing a £50million bid for Bournemouth star David Brooks to fend off interest from Manchester United in summer.
The 21-year-old Wales international has been in fine form for the Cherries this season, netting 6 goals and assisting 4 in 21 starts this season. His performances at such a young stage has caught the eye of many clubs and Bournemouth will do everything possible to keep hold of the midfielder.
David Brooks represented England in the Under-20 level but has since shifted allegiances to Wales. The youngster made his international debut in November 2017 in a 2-0 defeat to France and has since earned 5 caps for his country.
Bournemouth signed David Brooks in the 2018 summer transfer window from Championship side Sheffield United. The Welshman was closely linked with Tottenham in the summer but Eddie Howe successfully nipped the 21-year-old to the south coast.
Brooks is primarily a central attacking midfielder but has also featured on the right wing this season. The youngster has been a real threat on the counter attack for the Cherries, and his ability to link up in and around the box and his off the ball movement makes him such an exciting prospect. The Welshman can also take set-pieces which is an added bonus.
Tottenham have been heavily reliant on Christian Eriksen over the past few seasons in attack and the North London side lack any sort of creativity if the Dane is absent. With reports of Real Madrid showing serious interest in Eriksen, Spurs need a backup and David Brooks under Mauricio Pochettino’s management could be a perfect fit.
Still only 21, the former Sheffield man is yet to reach his peak and under the Spurs manager, could follow the steps of Dele Alli who has become a really good player.

Manchester United are also in the race for Brooks and according to former England international Paul Merson, the 21-year-old would be starting for the club if he was at Old Trafford. It’ll be difficult to beat United to Brooks’s signature in summer but Spurs should do everything possible to lure him away to north London.
