According to January’s report on the ESPN, Tottenham were planning a £30 million summer move for Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler.
Carlos Soler, 22, enjoyed an impressive season with Valencia, helping the club qualify for the Champions League next term. The Spaniard was richly involved under Marcelinho, bagging four goals and 11 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions.
After enjoying a highly productive campaign at the Mestalla, Tottenham must not think twice before splashing the cash to sign Carlos Soler.
There is no doubt that Mauricio Pochettino would welcome players who can improve the overall strength of his squad after Spurs failed to secure their maiden UEFA Champions League crown last weekend.
The north Londoners didn’t sign a single player in the last two transfer windows which massively affected their Premier League campaign. Pochettino cannot afford to replicate the same mistake and should persuade the board to invest heavily in the ongoing summer transfer window. They should not have any problems signing players in the transfer market due to the lure of Champions League football.
Strengthening the options in the midfield department has to at the top of Pochettino’s priorities. Thus, they must continue to push ahead to land Soler ahead of the new campaign.
Soler is all-around midfielder as he can do a little bit of everything. He is a tactically versatile midfielder and although he has played mostly on the right flank at Valencia this past season, the 22-year-old is also comfortable playing in central midfield or as a holding midfielder. The Spaniard has proven this season that he can pick out a final pass in the offensive end of the pitch and also chip in with crucial goals.
The 22-year-old boasts decent pace and can be an unstoppable force from the wide areas when he is dribbling with the ball at full speed. The potential addition of a midfielder of Soler’s talents will be a big boost for Pochettino’s squad ahead of the new season.

The former Spanish youth international will not only add a lot of creativity to the Spurs midfield but will also provide more competition for places within the squad.
Soler has the qualities required to be a big success at North London. Thus, it makes sense for Tottenham to sign the midfield ace from Valencia this summer as he will add another dimension to Pochettino’s engine room, which could help them bridge the gap to Manchester City and Liverpool over the next few seasons.
