In Tower of Fantasy, players play a customizable avatar that interacts with other characters and entities in the open virtual world and collects items as they travel around. The game is a 3D “shared world” action role-playing game. Players can move around the world by running, jumping, sprinting, climbing, and swimming, or by equipping various vehicles. As the character continues to move in that mode, their stamina bar slowly depletes and replenishes as they stop.
The player character is rewarded with experience points as they interact with the world and the story, thereby increasing their level and improving their combat abilities. With a hack-and-slash combat system, players use various equippable weapons to fight enemies, switching between weapons so that they can access unique attacks and abilities. There are three weapons that can be equipped and switched at any time. Having the ability to jump into the air allows you to launch aerial attacks that require stamina and plunge attacks that consume stamina.
Each weapon has a basic attack and a charged attack. There is a basic auto-target attack mode and an aimed mode for ranged weaponry. Additionally, weapons have a special cooldown-based skill. As the player attacks enemies, inactive weapons charge up until they are fully charged, at which point switching between weapons unleashes a potent discharge strike.
