Trey Burke Career
His high school basketball career started under the father of forward, Jared Sullinger. As a freshman in high school, Burke did not play many of the matches. Burke trained with Darian Carthar twice a day and improved his skillset a lot. In his sophomore season, Durke helped his team to win against Dublin Scioto High School by shooting 5 of 6 free throws in overtime.
After his brilliant high school seasons, Burke committed to play college basketball for the University of Michigan. Burke made his debut against the Ferris State on November 2011, scoring 3 points in 18 minutes. Burke’s contribution played a vital part for the team, as they managed to finish in the third position. Burke was named as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for his tremendous 36 points and 18 assists in the season. Burke earned his first Big Ten Conference Player of the week title in January.
After his tremendous performance in the first year, he was declared as the best point guard in the nation by CBSSports. But Burke was not interested to enter the 2012 NBA draft. He returned back to his sophomore season at the University of Michigan. CBS named Trey as the third-best point guard. On November 27, Burke landed on his career-high 11 assists with no turnovers and also scored his first double-double of the season. Burke was named the South All-Regional Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
Burke entered the 2013 NBA draft and was drafted as the 9th pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves. But soon after he was traded to the Utah Jazz for the 14th and 21st picks. He signed a $ 5 million contract for his two seasons. It is the highest pay provided to a rookie. During the Orlando Summer League, Trey broke his right index finger below the middle knuckle. It took 6 weeks to recover from the injury.
After his recovery, in November he made his debut for the Jazz. In his initial few games, he was averaging very low. But proved he is a warrior, as he scored 20 points for the Jazz against the Phoenix Suns. His first double-double in the NBA League came against Sacramento on December 7.
On October 2017, the New York Knicks signed Burke but later he was waived by them. Then he signed a contract with the Westchester Knicks and scored 43 points with six rebounds and three assists in his second match for the Knicks.
Currently, he is playing for the Stockton Kings of the NBA G League.
