Tulsa King was developed from a previously-titled project called Kansas City and features changes made by showrunner Taylor Sheridan that include moving the setting to Tulsa instead of Kansas City and other significant adjustments made to its cast by showrunner Patrick Meagher (Bodhi), Max Casella (Ray Donovan), Jay Will (Dexter) and Vincent Piazza (Boardwalk Empire). Martin Starr plays Bodhi while Vincent Piazza plays Ray Donovan.

Sheridan’s track record as a successful television creator was further cemented with this raucous mob drama. Its gripping and captivating gangster story offered a fresh take on traditional mafia tales while providing an explosive, riveting TV experience. At present, no official announcement has been made for Tulsa King season 2. However, as Terence Winter left and the writers’ strike is underway it could take quite some time before anything official comes about.
