Tyron Woodley is a household name at this point in his career. The MMA veteran kicked off his career in February 2009 and is still going strong.
The American currently fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), but has fought in another big promotion, Strikeforce, earlier during his career.
He is not on a good streak. After losing 3 consecutive fights for the first time in his professional MMA career, ‘The Chosen One’ last fought at UFC 260 on March 27th.
Tyron Woodley has an impressive net worth of approximately $4million. He can thank his UFC career for that as he has undoubtedly earned the most amount of cash inside the UFC octagon.
His time inside the fighting cage has seen him rake in over $4.6million, with his biggest payout coming against Darren Till at UFC 228 in 2018.
That fight saw him take home an impressive $590,000. His earnings in the past few fights has not been as high as that because of his losses, but he still has a few years left in him to make some more cash in the promotion.
Woodley boasts an impressive 19-7-1 professional MMA record and a 9-7-1 UFC record. That record would have made for a much better reading had it not been for his 3 successive losses in his last 3 fights.
At the peak of his powers, Woodley won the UFC welterweight title in 2016 against Robbie Lawler at UFC 201 via a round 1 knockout.
It then gave way to a marvellous draw against Stephen Thompson in his next fight, where he retained the title. This was followed by 3 successive title defences until he lost to the current champion at 170, Kamaru Usman, at UFC 235 after the full 5 rounds.
He has won the Knockout of the Night and Fight of the Night once, and has taken home the Performance of the Night bonus three times during his UFC career.
He is married to his wife, Averi Woodley, and the couple has 4 children together. The proud husband and father, Woodley, constantly posts pictures and videos with his family on his social media accounts.
As for his endorsements, the 28-year-old American MMA fighter is still pretty well backed. He is sponsored by Dobb Tires and Metabolic Meals.
On top of those two big sponsorship deals, he is also backed by Affliction Clothing, Mascot Agency, and Sporturf, which is a leading artificial sport turf company.
Woodley lost his last fight to Colby Covington at UFC Fight Night 178. The main event was ended by the referee in the 5th round as The Chosen One succumbed to a rib injury.
He now faces #10 ranked welterweight fighter, Vicente Luque, in his next fight at UFC 260 on 27th March 2021. The many they call ‘The Silent Assassin’ had a nearly identical professional record to Woodley’s, at 19-7-1.
Woodley would be hoping that he can finally end his losing streak and get one over the 29-year-old American-born Brazilian fighter, Luque. Woodey is currently 7th in the 170 lbs. division and can climb up the rankings with a win.
However, Woodley had a tough outing and picked up another loss against Luque.
