Claressa Shields was at UFC 245 and was open to facing Amanda Nunes next in a fight
UFC 245 had some huge clashes with Amanda Nunes, Kamaru Usman and Jose Aldo all in action.
There were some big talking points from the game, especially with Nunes defeating Germaine de Randamie.
The 31-year-old Brazilian is the first two-division woman champion and holds the bantamweight and featherweight titles.
She beat De Randamie via unanimous decision but could be set to face someone from another sport.
American boxer Claressa Shields was at UFC 245 and was flown in by the chief of the promotion, Dana White.
Shields was speaking ahead of the match and claimed she would be open to fighting Nunes in the boxing ring.
Nunes was also open to the clash but wanted to face her in the MMA octagon. The champ claimed she would destroy her opponent and wasn’t looking to enter the boxing ring.
This wouldn’t be the first time a boxer and MMA star have faced off. Connor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr battled in 2017 with the boxer coming out on top.
Who is Shields?
The 24-year-old American hasn’t lost a match in her professional boxing career. Shields is set to next fight Ivana Habazin in January 2020, and she wanted some time to prepare before facing Nunes.
Shields is the undisputed middleweight champion and is one of seven boxers to have held all four boxing titles at the same time.
That is the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO titles. The American also won several titles during her amateur career and picked up Gold in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.
Shields and Nunes both would have to work hard if either of them swap sports, and it will be interesting to see when their fight happens.
