UFC 254 had one huge fight but who won the main event at Fight Island?
Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Justin Gaethje was the huge fight serving as the main event for UFC 254.
This was for the Lightweight title and many believed it would be a close fight between Khabib and Gaethje.
Khabib came into this clash undefeated while Gaethje only had two losses to his name in his MMA career.
However, the UFC 254 event was split into three cards. There were some other huge fighters on the card too such as Lauren Murphy, Robert Whittaker, Jared Cannonier and Walt Harris. A few rising stars were present too with Nathaniel Wood and Shavkat Rakhmonov.
As with any UFC event, there were several submissions and knock outs, and here are the results and winners from UFC 254.
The first fight of the night started off with a great submission as Joel Alvarez used an armbar on his opponent in the first round to get the win.
The next fight saw two women slug it out but it was Miranda Maverick who got a huge elbow in which caused a major cut on Liana Jojua’s nose.
The doctors couldn’t stop the bleeding after the end of the first round and the fight was called off.
Sam Alvey and Da Un Jung put on a slug fest in the first fight of the prelim card. However, both stars were handed the win by one judge while the third called it a draw.
Rakhmonov continued his impressive winning streak as he got Oliveira to submit via a guillotine choke in the first round itself.
This was the fight of the night with both stars teeing off on each other. In the end, it was Casey Kenny getting the win over Wood.
Tai Tuivasa might have been the shorter star in all this but he got one over the bigger Stefan Struve with some brutal punches at the end of the first round.
The second KO of the night came from Magomed Ankalaev who got the better of Ion Cutelaba in the first round itself.
Lauren Murphy picked up her first submission win thanks to a rear-naked choke. The American then claimed she was ready for a title shot too.
Phil Hawes needed just 18 seconds to get the win over Jacob Malkoun.
One huge body kick from Alexander Volkov brought Walt Harris down, and that was it for the fight.
Former Middleweight champion Robert Whittaker put the champion on notice by defeating the impressive Jared Cannonier.
Cannonier also had a cut-up face in the third round but he couldn’t get enough punches in for the win.
Khabib made it 29-0 in his MMA career after he dominated Gaethje and got him to submit via a triangle choke.
The Russian then retired from the sport after making a promise to his mother.
