Jake Paul is ready to train with Jorge Masvidal before his boxing match against Ben Askren
In a bit of a shock, Ben Askren confirmed he was going to face Jake Paul in a boxing match.
Paul has been seeking a fight against an MMA star for a while. The YouTube personality had knocked out NBA star Nate Robinson a few months back and had called out Conor McGregor and Dillon Danis.
While McGregor has snubbed any comments from Paul, Danis, for his part, was hooked into this and even was bombarded with water balloons.
However, Askren taking up the clash is a bit of a surprise given that he hasn’t fought since losing to Demian Maia in 2019. He had accepted the call out from Paul a while back, but didn’t go ahead with it.
Askren is remembered for featuring in the fastest knockout in the UFC, but he wasn’t on the right end of the result.
Jorge Masvidal got that done at UFC 239 and it took just five seconds to get the better of Askren. This was Askren’s first loss in MMA too and that seemed to take a bit off his career.
Training with Gamebred
Paul is great at trash talking and he seemed to take another shot at his rival. The match takes place on 17 April, 2021, and it seems he will be training with Masvidal.
Masvidal and Askren had a ton of problems before their fight, and Gamebred seems to be the right answer to the Askren question.
However, Masvidal is an MMA star and it will be interesting to see how he trains Paul. The YouTuber is 2-0 in his professional boxing career but Askren isn’t someone to take lightly.
He is a former Bellator champion and was undefeated before the Masvidal knee. Askren has also won several wrestling titles and it will be interesting to see what happens in the fight.
However, many fans weren’t happy with the news of Masvidal training Paul. They brought up his links with former President Donald Trump and some suggested that Gamebred would do anything to make some money.
