Modestas Bukauskas suffered a nasty knee injury against Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC Vegas 36
Khalil Rountree Jr. and Modestas Bukauskas faced off in the main card of UFC Vegas 36: Brunson vs Till in a light-heavyweight contest.
Right from the word go, Rountree Jr. was all over Bukauskas. The Lithuanian-British had no clue to Rountree Jr.’s splendid attacking approach.
Within a few minutes into the first round, Bukauskas had his nose busted open by Rountree. However, he held on and somehow made it to the second round.
Althought, Rountree was a bit calmer and composed in the second round, a strong oblique kick popped Bukauskas’ knee open, handing Rountree a TKO win, even as Bukauskas writhed in pain.
An update on his injury was provided by Michael Bisping who was on commentary duty. According to a Tweet from Bloody Elbow, quoting Bisping, it has been learnt that, Bukauskas has suffered a blown ACL, MCL and PCL.
However, backstage videos showed Bukauskas walking backstage.
The co-main event saw a heavyweight contest between number 13 ranked heavyweight Tom Aspinall and number 14 ranked Sergey Spivak.
Aspinall showed why he is one for the future with an elbow followed by punches to remain undefeated in the UFC.
With that win, Aspinall is 4-0 in the UFC and has an overall MMA record of 11 wins and 2 losses.
