Khabib Nurmagomedov is doing his bit to help drug addicts in his native country

Eagle Fighting Championship star, Magomedzaid Zaidov, has explained how Khabib Nurmagomedov is doing his bit to fight the drug menace in his native of Dagestan.

Khabib is seen as one of the greatest MMA stars of all-time, however, he has done a lot of charity work outside of the Octagon too.

One of his greatest moments was against Dustin Poirier as both stars exchanged shirts after the fight and helped raise proceeds for various causes.

Khabib, however, is doing a lot of work back home too and Zaidov was speaking to Sport Express. The Eagle Fighting Championship was a drug addict himself and brought up the work that Khabib was doing to help those in need (h/t RT):

“Khabib himself is very closely involved in the process of helping drug addicts.”

Zaidov added that Khabib had helped 50 people and the Russian was taking his time to help them and even paying the costs:

“He helped a lot of people. [There are] 50 people who he helped to rehabilitate.

“Khabib took his time, came, paid attention, talked to them. It costs even more than financial aid.

“And the attention that a person pays is worth a lot. Khabib helped a lot with this – the guys from the area who he grew up with.”

Khabib doesn’t share all of this charity work due to his humble nature, but it is great to see his efforts getting the recognition it deserves.

Will Khabib Nurmagomedov return to the UFC?

Khabib hasn’t fought since defeating Justin Gaethje more than four months back. He retired from fighting right after the win but there have been suggestions the Russian could be back for a 30th fight.

That could be against the legendary Georges St-Pierre but there are too many conditions for the pair to meet.

GSP, as St-Pierre is called, has been training regularly while Khabib is in great shape too. The pair meeting would be quite a bout but Dana White believes this fight won’t take place.

Khabib needs the permission of his mother before returning to the Octagon, and it is unlikely he will be back anytime soon.
