Francis Ngannou hopes to get another shot at the UFC Heavyweight title
French-Cameroonian star Francis Ngannou hasn’t given up on his dreams of winning the UFC Heavyweight title.
The 33-year-old has never won the title but fought against current champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 220.
Ngannou lost that bout as Miocic kept his crown, but Stipe is expected to fight Daniel Cormier soon.
Cormier vs Miocic part 3 would be a huge UFC clash, and the Heavyweight title could be on the line in that one too.
Ngannou was asked by Brett Okamoto who he wanted to fight between DC (Daniel Cormier) and Miocic for the title, and the 33-year-old replied Miocic without batting an eyelid:
“Stipe. I want to fight Stipe.”
However, the 33-year-old did have some great words for DC, but wanted Miocic badly:
“DC will be a great fight too, but I haven’t done with Stipe yet. But DC will be a great challenge for me.”
Upset at not getting another shot
After losing to Miocic at UFC 220, Ngannou has been on a three-fight win streak. The 33-year-old was asked who might win between the champion and Cormier, but he was upset at not getting another shot at the title.
“Man, I thought that before that I thought I was next but I was wrong. It was frustrating to find out I was wrong.”
Ngannou claimed he didn’t care who was going to win and just wanted to get into the Octagon.
“I don’t have my mind on it, I just want to fight. No matter what, I just want to fight.”
The 33-year-old might get a chance to impress soon as there has been talk of him fighting at UFC 249.
That would be the first UFC event since UFC Brasil, post which, all UFC events were postponed.
UFC 249 sees Khabib Nurmagomedov take on Tony Ferguson in the main event. However, having Ngannou on the card would be great too.
