AJ McKee is currently on the radar of world’s biggest MMA promotion, UFC.
AJ McKee was recently crowned as the Bellator featherweight champion at Bellator 263. ‘The Mercenary’ finished the largely-feared Patricio Pitbull Freire in the very first round, via. submission.
He is currently 18-0 in his MMA career, having plied his entire trade in Bellator.
McKee’s recent performances have earned him comparisons with the unstoppable 2015 version of UFC’s Conor McGregor.
YouTube star Jake Paul even made a debatable claim that AJ McKee would destroy the 2015 version of Conor McGregor.
In a recent interview with Serg Vicente of the Fight Podcast, McKee was asked to compare McGregor’s 2015 opponents – Dennis Siver, Chad Mendes and Jose Aldo, to his previous three opponents Derek Campos, Darrion Caldwell and Patricio Freire, and share his thoughts on how he would have fared against them.
McKee quickly replied that he would have dispatched them (McGregor’s 2015 opponents) with ease.
“It wouldn’t have made a difference. I’d have fun with all them boys. For real.”
However, McKee did go on to acknowledge the UFC greats McGregor fought with, in 2015. He revealed that he grew up watching them and would always be legends in his opinion.
He then claimed that it was McKee time now, and that he’s going to be “taking over everything.”
McKee was quoted as saying:
“They are some of the greatest fighters, you know what I mean? I grew up watching all of them. I’ve been watching them for a long time. But, at the end of the day, it is the new wave, it’s the new era. I’m coming over, I’m taking over everything.”
