Jiri Prochazka looks like the man to beat in the light-heavyweight division
Prochazka joined the UFC, only last year. He made his debut against Volkan Oezdemir at UFC 251, winning via. a stunning KO.
The former Rizin Fighting Federation champion took his win streak to 11 after beating Oezdemir, and had already broken into the top 5.
He was then scheduled to face top-ranked light-heavyweight Dominick Reyes at UFC Vegas 25. The fight went ahead last Saturday at the UFC Apex, and this time the Czech produced an even more devastating knockout, as Reyes remained unconscious for quite a while.
The win took him to number 2 in the light-heavyweight rankings, staring at a title match against the champ Jan Blachowicz.
Daniel Cormier recently opened up in the latest episode of DC & Helwani MMA show, stating Prochazka can not be stopped unless someone knocks him out. DC felt that only Blachowicz can be able to do such a thing.
That’s when number 3 ranked light-heavyweight contender Aleksandar Rakic stepped in. Rakic quote tweeted, mentioning DC saying that he knew a guy (Rakic himself!).
There is a reason why Rakic is ranked number 3 in the light-heavyweight division. The Austrian has a superb UFC record, and adding to that he has never been finished in his MMA career.
With just 2 losses and an impressive 14 wins, Rakic’s only L came against Volkan Oezdemir at UFC Fight Night: Edgar vs Zombie in 2019.
He then came back strongly with unanimous decision wins against Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos.
He dominated Thiago Santos in his last fight at UFC 259, as the Brazilian had no clue in getting the job done against the Austrian.
