Renowned and illustrious boxing promoter Eddie Hearn weighed in on the Canelo Alvarez and Kamaru Usman situation, and mocked the MMA fighter’s manager
The outlandish Ali Abdelaziz is one of the most polarizing figures in MMA today. Although people might dislike him, its no doubt that he’s always worked tirelessly towards providing his fighters with the best deals and fights.
Ali Abdelaziz blasted the P4P best boxer in the world for fighting no-name fighters, and ducking Kamaru Usman. He posted a Tweet saying, ‘@Canelo is an absolute chicken, he is fighting guys with 5000 followers on Instagram, these guys will never do nothing for his legacy. Now I understand why he doesn’t wanna lose to someone like @USMAN84kg this is chicken style, no risk – no reward.’
The superstar boxer reacted to Ali’s claim and outrageous comments by saying, ‘ ‘ Who the fu**is this ?’
Ali went on to reply by saying that the Mexican has been ducking GGG for 2 years now, just like he’s shutting down talks of a fight against Usman. ‘You know who I am, you know what’s the difference between you and @USMAN84kg ? You’ve been ducking GGG for 2 years now, but Kamaru have fought everybody UFC threw at him. I’m being very nice to you, because it’s Ramadan.’
Eddie Hearn weighs in on the situation and mocks Ali Abdelaziz for his puerile behavior
It’s evident by now that UFC President Dana White is not a huge fan of how boxing is being run by some people, and the way the sport has been tainted by corruption. But if there’s one promoter he absolutely respects and adores, it’s Eddie Hearn. The boxing mainstay has a star-studded line-up under his roster and is currently promoting the biggest women’s boxing match in history alongside Jake Paul.
In an interview with The Mac Life, Eddie Hearn, boxing promoter and chairman of Matchroom Sport, spoke about his fighter Katie Taylor going against Amanda Serrano on April 30, in Madison Square Garden in what is meant historically to be the first women’s combat sports event. Hearn also weighed in on the ongoing Twitter feud between Usman and Canelo by saying,
“We all know that if Canelo Alvarez boxed Usman in a boxing match, it would be the most embarrassing mismatch of all time and maybe if Canelo boxed him or fought him in MMA rules, Usman would be the favourite… I’ve heard Dana White not speak favourably about that fight understandably, so but if he ever did want to do it, we’re doing it in a heartbeat,” says Hearn.
He also mocked Usman’s manager for handling the situation poorly . “I don’t really know Ali Abdelaziz but he embarrassed himself there you know… [but] no man’s full either, he has no idea when he’s talking about boxing, I have no idea when I’m talking about UFC, so we’re the same, really,“ he concluded.
