Ali Abdelaziz claims Gilbert Burns would “blind” UFC star who suffered broken jaw earlier

A fan asked who would win between Gilbert Burns and Colby Covington with Ali Abdelaziz sharing his prediction

Ali Abdelaziz isn’t afraid to share his opinions on social media and he has now predicted the fight between Gilbert Burns and Colby Covington.

A fan had asked who would win between the UFC stars and Abdelaziz backed his name, Burns. The Brazilian was to fight Kamaru Usman for the Welterweight title at UFC 251 but pulled out after testing positive for Covid-19.

However, Usman kept the title by defeating Jorge Masvidal and Burns should face the Nigerian Nightmare next.

While Burns has been excellent since coming to the Welterweight division, Abdelaziz backed him to easily defeat Covington.

Covington is a former interim Welterweight champion but got his jaw broken by Usman at UFC 245. That was something that Abdelaziz alluded to and claimed Burns would blind Covington:

Usman and Burns are from the same training camps, and it will be interesting to see how things go.

Another big Welterweight clash

Usman vs Burns should be a cracker and this could be a tough clash to call. The Nigerian Nightmare has been excellent since picking up the title and neutralised Masvidal easily.

While Usman didn’t knock Masvidal down or submit him, the champion’s game plan was perfect as Gamebred barely got any hits on the champ.

Burns, however, is a different beast and he could take the title away. As for Abdelaziz’s comments on blinding Covington, that seems unlikely unless the Brazilian decides to eye-poke his way to a win.

Covington was beaten up quite well by Usman during their title clash, and he was out of action after dealing with a broken jaw.

However, he is back in the UFC and is keen for another fight soon.
