Henry Cejudo retired from the UFC a few months back but Ali Abdelaziz is still backing Triple C to beat Alexander Volkanovski
Ali Abdelaziz is still backing retired UFC star Henry Cejudo to get the better of Alexander Volkanovski.
Cejudo retired from the UFC after defending his UFC Bantamweight title against Dominick Cruz at UFC 249.
While that shocked the UFC world, Cejudo still hasn’t given up his dream of bring a three-division champion. He has hit out at Volkanovski in the past and his manager, Abdelaziz did the same recently.
Volkanovski won a controversial rematch against former champion Max Holloway at UFC 251. The fight could have gone either way but the Aussie kept hold of his title, just about.
Abdelaziz spoke about Cejudo beating Volkanovski and proving the doubters wrong:
“I’m confident @HenryCejudo will beat Volkanovski you guys doubt him and he proved everyone wrong”
Cejudo also got a chance to chime in and claimed Volkanovski wouldn’t even last two rounds with him:
While it is to be seen if Cejudo makes his UFC return and faces Volkanovski, Abdelaziz got one result right from UFC 251.
The Egyptian predicted that Kamaru Usman would dominate Jorge Masvidal in the main event, and the Nigerian Nightmare did.
He neutralised Gamebred’s plans and chipped away to keep hold of his Welterweight title. Cejudo, for his part, has been trying to get into boxing too.
The former double UFC champion has also tried his luck in professional wrestling and featured on several AEW shows.
Cejudo was one of the best in the MMA world and is a former Olympic Champion. It will be interesting to see what his next move is but a return to the Octagon cannot be ruled out.
