Ali Abdelaziz believes that Beneil Dariush will retire Tony Ferguson, when the pair face-off at UFC 262, next month.
Tony Ferguson has looked out of sorts since the beginning of 2020. He suffered the first TKO loss of his career at the hands of Justin Gaethje at UFC 249, which snapped his incredible win streak of 12 which extended to a period of almost 7 years.
He then took on Charles Oliveira at UFC 256 and was totally ragdolled by the Brazilian. Ferguson lost the fight via. unanimous decision.
And, hence this became the first time ever ‘El Cucuy’ lost two fights in a row. In a bid to snap the two-fight skid, Ferguson has been working hard alongside famed boxing trainer Freddie Roach.
Ferguson also changed his nutritionists prior to the Oliveira fight. And now, in his path stands the resilient Iranian, Beneil Dariush.
The pair are set to meet at UFC 262 on the 15th of May, next month. Dariush is coming off a split decision victory over Carlos Diego Ferreira and is on an impressive 6 fight win streak.
Dominance MMA CEO Ali Abdelaziz spoke to the Schmo about Ferguson’s chances of beating Dariush in the fight. Abdelaziz revealed that Ferguson would be beaten fair and square in all the departments, before going on to say that Dariush would retire Ferguson.
Here is what Abdelaziz had to say about Ferguson vs Dariush:
“Beneil doesn’t talk much. I will talk a little bit for him. I think Tony Ferguson has signed his death certificate, I think it is gonna be the last fight of his career. Beneil is gonna retire him. Beneil is better everywhere, his striking is better, his wrestling is better, his grappling is better. And, I think Tony made a mistake signing the fight with Beneil Dariush.”
Tony Ferguson wary of the threat Beneil Dariush possesses but not feeling the pressure
Dariush is an explosive fighter. He can switch gears in the blink of an eye, a testimony to that was his fight against Drakkar Klose at UFC 248.
In a recent interview with Submission Radio, ‘El Cucuy’ spoke about the impressive coaching team Dariush has, which is headed by Rafael Cordeiro.
Since, Dariush is a southpaw and brings a holistic approach to his game, Ferguson revealed that he had been working on a variety of skillsets to counter the Iranian.
However, Ferguson sounded confident, saying that he was back hungrier than ever. And, it looks like the Boogeyman means business.
