Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Georges St-Pierre rumours heat up
Ever since Khabib Nurmagomedov retired after his win against Justin Gaethje, his UFC return has been incessantly speculated.
And no one is linked with a fight against him on his return than Georges St-Pierre. The lightweight champion went out with a 29-0 professional record, having never been beaten in his career.
He beat The Highlight at UFC 254 to defend his belt and announce his retirement. That has left the lightweight division wide open, but MMA fans still miss the void left by Khabib.
And amid the rumours, Khabib’s agent and Dominance MMA’s founder Ali Abdelaziz saw it fit to squash them before they gain further pace.
Writing on his Twitter account, Abdelaziz stated that the rumours are false. This is a little surprising in all honesty, as he himself has been rooting for the Russian to come back to UFC.
Nevertheless, it could also be a ploy to get GSP to notice that the rumours do exist and maybe provoke a reaction. Or, it could be just him sharing facts.
Nevertheless, Khabib’s return is still not out of question. And Abdelaziz has himself responded to a list of possible opponents the lightweight legend could face on his return.
GSP and Khabib are the two names that come to everyone’s minds when discussing who the MMA G.O.A.T. really is. A fight between the two could really help settle the debate once and for all.
But if Abdelaziz’s words are to go by, we may have to wait a while before seeing it happen; if it does ever happen.
Until then, we can enjoy the lightweight division for what it has to offer. Dustin Poirier has looked incredible and wants a shot at the gold.
Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler have also looked great while Gaethje also wants a crack at the title.
