Michael Chandler had a night to forget against Charles Oliveira at UFC 262

Chandler could have won the lightweight title, in only his second UFC fight, had he landed a few more blows after knocking down Oliveira in the first round. But it was the Brazilian’s night, as he came into the second round and went full throttle in just seconds.

Just 19 seconds into the second round, Chandler found himself knocked out by the long limbs of ‘Do Bronx’. The fight was euphoric!

Oliveira became the champion after eleven long years with the promotion, and in his 28th UFC fight. Chandler went home a disappointed man.

In the wake of this, number 2 ranked lightweight Justin Gaethje’s manager Ali Abdelaziz was happy that Chandler lost to Oliveira.

He tweeted:

“We got this bum out of the way so now @Justin_Gaethje can clean up the division.”

Abdelaziz is no stranger to posting such tweets, but it was pretty evident that he was frustrated with his client Gaethje not getting the time or fight he deserves.

Charles Oliveira responds to Conor McGregor’s callout

McGregor had congratulated Oliveira on his success, after the Brazilian became the 11th lightweight champion.

However McGregor also seemed to hint that he would be the 12th, also alluding to his Proper No.12.

Oliveira responded to McGregor’s callout at the post-fight conference. ‘Do Bronx’ said that McGregor must beat Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 first, and then talk. He then hinted that he would take on the winner in his home country, Brazil.

Oliveira was quoted as saying:

“Conor, since you’re so tough. First of all, you beat Dustin and then come over to Brazil, and I will put you on your a**…First he has to pass Dustin. He’s just one of those guys that talks a lot. He’s got to beat Dustin first.”
