Khamzat Chimaev has attracted a lot of attention in UFC this year
Russian-born Swedish UFC fighter Khamzat Chimaev is one of the most talked-about athletes right now as he continues to make an impression in the promotion.
Chimaev has a 9-0-0 record of which 3 have been wins in the UFC. His most recent win came in an impressive showing against Gerald Meerschaert which he won in just 17 seconds at UFC Fight Night 178.
In the midst of all this, he has drawn comparisons to legends of the sport such as Khabib Nurmagomedov. He also has a fair share of his haters; as all good athletes do.
They came out in full flow when news broke that Chimaev has pulled out from the fight against Leon Edwards. Earlier on 29th December, it was revealed that Khamzat Chimaev will not fight Leon Edwards at UFC Fight Island 8.
The fight, which was scheduled this time for 21st January 2021, has now been cancelled twice. It has even led to talks of the fight being ‘cursed’.
Ali Abdelaziz does not hold back, especially on social media. This time he came to the defence of his client Chimaev who has been at the receiving end of trash talk lately.
Abdelaziz’s response to the hate Chimaev gets in the UFC is simple; it’s because The Chechen Wolf is feared by his rivals.
Abdelaziz also makes a point that all this attention has come for Chimaev despite him just fighting thrice in the UFC. He also mentions that he does not mind that the Swede has haters; it makes it “fun”.
There is still no official news as to why the 26-year-old pulled out of his fight against Leon Edwards. Let’s hope the reason is not too serious and we can see him inside the octagon sooner rather than later.
