The picture of Khabib Nurmagomedov tapping out Conor McGregor is etched in the memories of every fight fan
Conor McGregor is gearing up for his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier which will conclude in a matter of hours.
The Irishman will be looking forward to exacting revenge against ‘The Diamond’ and getting back into lightweight title relevance.
Ahead of the fight, McGregor recently told Stephen A. Smith of ESPN that he would count only knockout victories as wins, and all other means like decision, submission were of no value to him.
McGregor’s rival Khabib Nurmagomedov hit back with a reply on ESPN MMA’s post of the same.
Khabib wrote:
“There is nothing better in this sport than bring your opponent to the deep ocean, let them know what they’re about and let them tap.”
Khabib earned submission victories over both Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier during his illustrious MMA career.
He beat McGregor at UFC 229 via. submission and Poirier at UFC 242, the next year in 2019.
It is worth noting that Khabib defended his lightweight titles in both these fights.
Ali Abdelaziz finds every given chance to fire shots at Conor McGregor
Dominance MMA CEO and Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz reshared ‘The Eagle’s comments with a photo of him tapping out both Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier at UFC 229 and UFC 242 respectively.
He captioned the post: “King, Khabib Nurmagomedov.”
Abdelaziz and McGregor have had a tumultous relationship ever since McGregor attacked the bus carrying Khabib and teammates (Abdelaziz was present as well).
The pair engage in back and forth online, at least once in a fortnight.
