The book isn’t closed on Khabib Nurmagomedov making a return to UFC
Khabib Nurmagomedov is still tipped to make a UFC return, almost 3 months later after he announced his retirement at UFC 254.
Dana White, recently revealed that Khabib can make a comeback to the promotion. However, that would depend on how the contenders for the lightweight belt perform at UFC 257.
Conor McGregor takes on Dustin Poirier in the main event in a week’s time. The winner of the bout is highly tipped to be next in line for a shot at the belt.
Michael Chandler and Dan Hooker are also in action at the PPV scheduled for 24th January 2021. Brazilian fighter Charles Oliveira has also caught Nurmagomedov’s eyes.
In what is not a surprise for anyone at all, Nurmagomedov’s agent Ali Abdelaziz is still creating a ruckus on Twitter. This time, he replied to a poll conducted by an MMA reporter.
The poll asked who the toughest opponent would be for the Russian if he decides to make a return. The poll contained the winner of McGregor vs Poirier, the winner of Chandler vs Hooker, Charles Oliveira, and Georges St Pierre.
Fans voted for Oliveira to be the toughest match for Khabib. The BJJ specialist is in electric form and is on the back of an impressive against Tony Ferguson at UFC 256.
Abdelaziz, however, laughed at all the listed options by simple replying with “lol”.
Jokes aside, the lightweight division is very strong at the moment and highly competitive. Nurmagomedov would know that no matter who he faces from that list, it would not be an easy fight.
From what it seems that the winner of McGregor vs Poirier 2 looks the most likely to be in line for a match against the Russian.
