Israel Adesanya will defend his middleweight title against Marvin Vettori at UFC 263, next month

‘The Last Stylebender’ is set to run his fight with Marvin Vettori back next month at UFC 263 in Glendale, Arizona.

The pair last met at UFC on Fox: Poirier vs Gaethje on the 14th of April, 2018. It was an absolute war, as both the fighters went hammer and tongs at each other.

Adesanya emerged victorious via. a narrow split decision. Until this day, many feel that, the Vettori fight was the only reality check in the Kiwi’s glorious middleweight career.

Just one year after that loss, Adesanya became the middleweight champion, after beating Robert Whittaker at UFC 243. Izzy even tested the light-heavyweight division earlier this year, but ended up taking his first career L, but he is still unbeaten in the middleweight division.

Elsewhere, Dominance MMA CEO Ali Abdelaziz had his say on this upcoming title bout. He had a surprising prediction as he picked Vettori to “shock the world”.

Marvin Vettori is yet to lose since ‘that’ Israel Adesanya fight

Although, Adesanya went on to become the champion a year after beating Vettori, he still might have nightmares of that night against the ‘Italian Dream’.

Vettori never lost a fight after that Izzy loss. He has been on a five-match win streak since then, with notable victories over Jack Hermansson and Kevin Holland.

His last win over Holland at UFC on ABC, in April 2021, exemplified his ground-game, as he executed a stunning 11 takedowns, cruising to a comfortable unanimous decision victory.

Plus, Vettori has never been finished in his 22-fight MMA career. All his losses have been via. unanimous decision. It is going to be an excellent show of grappling vs striking.
