Paulo Costa lost to Israel Adesanya at UFC 253 but Ali Abdelaziz wanted the Brazilian to fight another top star next

Paulo Costa might still be healing up after UFC 253 but Ali Abdelaziz is open to him fighting a top star next.

The Brazilian came into the title fight at UFC 253 against Israel Adesanya undefeated. Some had predicted that the power of Costa would hand Adesanya his first MMA loss.

However, Adesanya put on quite a clinic as he destroyed Costa and knocked him out in the second round. This was total domination from the Last Stylebender, and Izzy had predicted such an outcome at UFC 253.

Nevertheless, Costa shot back at Adesanya and wanted another fight. This came after Adesanya performed some questionable celebrations right after the decision though many, like Johnny Walker, have claimed this was a release from Adesanya after being targeted by Costa for a long time.

Borrachinha might not be thinking of his next fight yet but Abdelaziz is keen on the Brazilian taking on Derek Brunson.

The CEO of Dominance MMA also retweeted the status, and it will be interesting to see if this clash is set up.

Bruised ego for Costa

While the Brazilian might not have been hurt much at UFC 253, his ego would have been bruised by the outing.

Adesanya was leagues ahead of Costa and Francis Ngannou even suggested that the Brazilian didn’t know how to fight in the main event.

The Last Stylebender executed his UFC 253 game plan to perfection, and he is now 20-0 in his MMA career.

Costa, for his part, is 13-1 having suffered his first MMA loss. Brunson might be 36 but he is one of the toughest stars out there.

The American is on a three-fight win streak and last defeated Edmen Shahbazyan in a bit of an upset. That was Shahbazyan’s first MMA loss too and the 22-year-old now holds a record of 11 wins and one loss.

Brunson might be 21-7 in his MMA career but has beaten stars such as Lyoto Machida and Uriah Hall. The 36-year-old has lost to Adesanya too but Costa vs Brunson could be an excellent fight.
