Ali Abdelaziz unimpressed with Jorge Masvidal vs Colby Covington UFC 272 fight

The main event of UFC 272 was a clash between bitter rivals Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington

Jorge Masvidal vs Colby Covington had all the ingredients to be an instant classic. There was a ton of trash talk, callouts, ludicrous statements and more made by both fighters.

However, what the fans got was a one-sided affair as Covington dominated Masvidal but the fight went the entire five rounds.

There were millions watching the fight in anticipation that it would become a classic. One of those keeping a close watch was Ali Abdelaziz the Dominance MMA Management founder, and he wasn’t all that pleased with the performances of the main eventers.

Masvidal and Covington have both failed to beat the Welterweight Champion, Kamaru Usman, and Abdelaziz brought this up on Twitter.

Abdelaziz is right in saying that Usman is the best fighter in MMA given that The Nigerian Nightmare is the #1 ranked pound-for-pound star in the UFC.

Usman has not been defeated in his UFC career, and he is now lapping the Welterweight division.

What is next for Kamaru Usman?

Usman last fought Covington at  UFC 268 and came out with a unanimous decision win. The Nigerian Nightmare has dominated his division and will next have a rematch with Leon Edwards. Rocky and Usman fought at UFC on Fox: dos Anjos vs Cowboy 2 way back in 2015.

It was Usman who picked up another decision win back then, but this fight could be a little different. Rocky is on a 10-fight undefeated run and has nine wins in those. The British star could test Usman a lot, but the champion should be the favourite going into this fight.

The date for this fight hasn’t been confirmed yet, and it will be interesting to see when Usman returns to action.
