Amanda Nunes was impressed by the recent UFC main event fight between Mackenzie Dern and Marina Rodriguez
The UFC Vegas 39 main event lived up to its billing.
The women’s strawweight contest between Mackenzie Dern and Marina Rodriguez went the distance, and saw Rodriguez emerge victorious via. unanimous decision.
The Brazilian scored 49-46 on all three judges’ scorecard, to earn a much needed victory.
Right from round 1, Rodriguez’s stand up game looked excellent. Her striking and precision was a notch above Dern’s.
However, Dern did have her moments in the fight. Known for being a brilliant BJJ artist, the Brazilian-American threatened a submission finish in a couple of instances during the fight.
But, Rodriguez weathered the storm to bring up her third consecutive win.
She has slowly risen up the women’s strawweight ladder, and a couple of wins (even one win probably) will put her in pole position for the title shot.
The slugfest earned both the fighters the ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus.
Amanda Nunes congratulates Marina Rodriguez
