The ‘fishing-rivalry’ began when Conor McGregor called out Gregor Gillespie claiming that he was the best fisherman in the UFC
Gillespie made a winning return to the UFC, after almost two years. He beat Carlos Diego Ferreira at the recently concluded UFC Fight Night.
After beating Ferreira via. TKO in the second round, Gillespie exclaimed at the camera calling himself the best fisherman.
This didn’t sit well with fellow Irish lightweight Conor McGregor as he called out Gillespie on Twitter, refuting his claims.
‘The Notorious’ posted a series of claims implying that he was the best fisherman in the UFC.
And more recently, Amanda Nunes has thrown her name into the ‘fishing-debate’. The two-division women’s champion posted a couple of images on Twitter after a successful fishing session. However, the fishes she caught looked as though they were ‘bait-material’.
Nunes captioned the post:
“I鈥檓 the best fisher women in the UFC. Just little ones today. @NinaAnsaroff.”
Amanda Nunes is set to take on Julianna Pena at UFC 265
‘The Lioness’ has hardly had any trouble dispatching opponents coming her way. She is set to take on Julianna Pena at UFC 265, against whom she will be defending her women’s bantamweight belt.
Pena has two losses in the UFC, against Valentina Shevchenko and Germaine de Randamie, both of whom Nunes has defeated already. It was the reason why Nunes was initially not willing to take on Pena.
The fight is set to take place on the 7th of August, with the location yet to be announced.
