Amanda Ribas weighed in at 116 pounds but was close to 30 pounds in weight ahead of her fight against Marina Rodriguez at UFC 257

Brazilian MMA star Amanda Ribas got a lot of people talking over her weight ahead of her UFC 257 fight.

The 10-1 fighter coming into the clash against Marina Rodriguez made weight at 116 pounds, which was fine.

However, that is not the weight fighters use when going into the Octagon. The fighters have time to regain some weight after the weigh ins but reports suggest she picked up close to 30 pounds.

That could be a huge difference in any division and it was her father and coach who claimed she could be around 143.3 pounds, which is 65 kg.

Lauren Murphy was also shocked in all this and couldn’t believe that she could pile up close to 30 pounds over the space of 24 hours.

Water put back into the system

Before people lose their minds, most MMA stars go through a rigorous weight cut before stepping onto the scales.

They put themselves on a crazy diet and go into saunas to cut as much water weight as possible. That is why some of them are a little disoriented when stepping onto the scales, and all of this could have been water weight from Ribas.

While it is a little weird how she picked up 30 pounds, or close to it, in 24 hours, most of the stars also have such crazy moves to get some weight back.

They need to be hydrated in all this and it will be interesting to see if the weight gain helps her against Rodriguez or not.

Ribas is one of the top stars in the women’s division, and has been on a bit of a rise since coming to the UFC.
