Fellow UFC fighter Amanda Ribas shares her prediction as Conor McGregor prepares to take on Dustin Poirier
Dustin Poirier will take on Conor McGregor in a lightweight bout at UFC 257 on January 23rd, 2021.
This is not the first time that the two are going head-to-head. They faced each other at UFC 178 in 2014, where the Notorious One came out on top.
The winner of this fight would almost certainly be the first in line to fight for the UFC Lightweight championship. Both the MMA stars have held the belt before and would no doubt be itching to hold it again.
McGregor’s last fight came almost a year back when he beat Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone. He retired mid-year in 2020 but has now made a comeback to fight at UFC 257.
Poirier is in good form and comes on the back of an impressive win against Dan Hooker. The fight between Poirier and the Irishman is very evenly matched and quite hard to predict.
Brazilian UFC flyweight fighter Amanda Ribas shared her views on the match earlier this week. Talking to Helen Lee on YouTube, she mentions that she saw Poirier train extra hard for the fight.
“I was seeing Dustin at the gym, we don’t talk too much, but all the time I was at the gym, he was there too.”
Ribas then adds that Poirier was a hard trainer, and that despite her liking Conor McGregor, she would send ‘good vibes’ The Diamond‘s way,
“He trained so hard. I am a big fan of McGregor and for me it would be hard to send good vibes but I will send to Dustin and I hope he goes to the ground and throws some punches and do a big fight.”
Judging by her comments above, it is clear what the Brazilian’s answer was when she was asked about her prediction of the fight. Asked if Poirier would win the fight, she replied “I hope so”.
