Home » UFC » Anderson Silva has a piece of advice for ‘recuperating’ Chris Weidman

Chris Weidman suffered a nasty leg injury against Uriah Hall at UFC 261, pretty similar to what Anderson Silva suffered at UFC 168

Weidman stepped into the Jacksonville Arena with many plans. He was looking forward to another surge at the middleweight championship. However, destiny had other ideas.

Just 17 seconds into his fight against Hall, he suffered a nasty leg injury that saw his leg snap in half.

He writhed and grimaced in pain, even as the fight was awarded to Hall. He was then stretchered off to the hospital and operated the next day.

He has been recovering gradually since then.

His old rival Anderson Silva, who suffered the exact same injury, when he fought Weidman himself, at UFC 168, had a word of advice for the ‘All American’.

Speaking in an interview with the Schmo, Silva claimed that he was worried when he first saw the video of Weidman getting knocked out.

Reminiscing his own recovery process, Silva revealed that it would be tough, and hence requested Weidman to stay positive and connected with his family and friends.

“Keep straight your focus. Recover your leg. Stay with your real friends, family and do your physiotherapy everyday. It is tough. I remember when I was scared to even kick or jump for three months. But in one year, I recovered and began kicking normally.”

Anderson Silva is preparing like a madman for his upcoming boxing bout

Silva is set to face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in only his third professional boxing bout. Silva made his boxing debut way back in 1998. He suffered a loss in his first fight.

However, he came back strongly in his next fight in the year 2005, winning via. knockout. Now, 16 years later he is back in the boxing ring.

His recent training videos just show how serious the Brazilian legend is taking the fight.

The fight will take place on the 19th of June in Mexico.
