Anthony Pettis starts his own MMA management company
UFC welterweight and lightweight star Anthony Pettis has revealed that he has started his own MMA management company which he will run alongside his active UFC career.
Pettis has been on placed on the prelim card instead of the main card for his fight against Alex Morono on Saturday, but would understand that it is not without reason.
The 31-year-old’s star power has been on a decline recently and he is not the same Pettis we knew from a few years back.
He, however, comes into the fight on the back of an impressive win against Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC 249.
He did lose his last two fights before that, to Nate Diaz and then Carlos Diego Ferreira. But Pettis would be looking to win consecutive MMA fights for the first time in more than 6 years.
Having been around the sport for a while now, Pettis has other plans on his mind now.
Pettis says he wants to “give back to fighters” with his new MMA management company
In an interview with MMA Fighting, the fighter discussed about his new MMA management company that he has started.
He says that he has the experience and knowledge of what fighters actually want, and is also starting his own promotion in Milwaukee to promote his own talents.
He says that he has managed before, such as with his brother, but this was the first time that he had made the news official.
Pettis seemed confident of his managerial skills and underlined how he can offer what other management companies cannot.
“I know the way it needs to be done. I know what fighters need at all different stages of their career.”
He even revealed how he fought his first fight at a Harley Davidson showroom, and used it as an example to show that he really has what it takes to lift a new fighter from the ground up and take them to the “big shows”.
