Conor McGregor gave a fiery post-fight interview speech following his loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264
Resting his back on the cage, an enraged Conor McGregor fired angry and nasty words aimed towards Dustin Poirier and his wife Jolie, at the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.
The Irishman had snapped his ankle towards the end of the first round, which led to the fight being awarded to Poirier via. TKO due to doctor stoppage.
McGregor’s words didn’t sit well with the MMA community, as he even threatened to kill ‘The Diamond’, despite being the one down and out.
In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, McGregor’s training partner and friend, Artem Lobov, stated that McGregor shouldn’t have been interviewed right after the fight. He also brought up the examples of Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman, about how things panned out for them once they broke their legs.
Lobov was quoted as saying:
““It was a mad situation. I mean, look at the way Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman were after his injury happened. … [McGregor] was still sitting up and I do think interviews shouldn’t even happen in that scenario. I’m surprised that it did happen. It shouldn’t have happened, but it is what it is in a way. You have to move on and live to fight another day. Now it’s time to heal, train, fix mistakes, and go back again. That’s it.” [via MMA Fighting]
Luke Rockhold breaks down Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier 3
Former UFC middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold weighed in on the recently concluded Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier trilogy fight.
In an interview with MMA Fighting, Rockhold claimed that he was surprised McGregor did not tighten the grip when he executed a guillotine on Poirier in round 1. He also had a few words of advice for the ‘Notorious.’
Rockhold was quoted as saying:
“I was surprised that Conor would waste that, but maybe he jumped the guillotine because he hurt his leg earlier and went to that angle. Dustin came in and wrestled, kept him on his back, and Conor needs to learn how to get up. That’s the game. But you never know, he could come back, reset, his tibia broke and that’s the fight game. People can’t predict the stuff that happens.” [via MMA Fighting]
