Fans react to Firas Zahabi claiming that Jon Jones should be disqualified from ‘GOAT’ conversation for failed PED tests in the past
At the beginning of this month, Jon Jones made his return to the UFC after a three-year absence. In his heavyweight debut, ‘Bones’ faced off against Ciryl Gane and won a unanimous decision in the first round, making him the new UFC heavyweight champion. Jones’ reputation as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time was strengthened as a result. Although most people agree that “Bones” is the greatest of all time, former UFC champion Georges St-Pierre’s coach seems to take a firm stand against that idea.
Longtime MMA coach Firas Zahabi, who has worked with legends like Georges St-Pierre, believes that Jon Jones should be disqualified from consideration as the greatest of all time due to his history of positive drug tests. In addition to that, he thinks that a lifetime ban should be given to anyone who tests positive for drugs:
“He’s not the GOAT. You can’t fail drug tests and be the GOAT. Like if you get caught with a hormone, I think you should be banned for life. It’s irreversible by the way. Why is it in cycling if you get caught, they ban you for life and they take all your medals. Everything you ever did in your career is gone. Why in MMA you just get a slap on your wrist.”

Fans react to Firas Zahabi’s comments
Fight fans were quick to react to Zihabi’s comments with one fan suggesting that his pupil Georges St-Pierre has himself used PED’s in the past:
“He’s saying that bc he was St Pierre’s coach… as if GSP wasn’t juicing lmfao”
Another fan wrote:
“I disagree. Jones has more than proven he can win without PEDs. Still the GOAT.”
However, some other fight fans believe that having Jon Jones as the ‘GOAT’ is UFC’s agenda to push an American on the top of the list:
“Yup. UFC is a USA company so they are forcing this false narrative that Jones is the Goat. USA fighters (GSP as well though he is from Canada) has huge advantage for fighting all the time in USA. Thats like if Khabib always fight in Russia and Jones always travels Russia to fight.”
