Conor McGregor could be in the sights of Belal Muhammad
Conor McGregor might be on a two-fight losing streak but the Irishman is still the biggest name in the UFC.
A fight with McGregor is not only a guaranteed pay-day but also is seen as an achievement and there is no dearth of fighters wanting to take it up.
Belal Muhammad is one such star but Remember the Name has been doing exceptionally well too. The UFC Welterweight is undefeated in his last seven outings and recently dominated Stephen Thompson.
Muhammad decided to put his name in the hat to fight McGregor after one Twitter account brought up another big fight.
McGregor vs Jorge Masvidal would be something special. Gamebred is also on a two-fight losing streak but the pair are two of the biggest names in the UFC.
Nevertheless, Muhammad posted a reworked image of the fight poster and put his face in place of Masvidal’s.
Muhammad vs McGregor wouldn’t be a bad fight but the Irishman would have to move up to the Welterweight division.
But Masvidal vs McGregor would be the bigger fight, at least in terms of names.
What is next for Belal Muhammad?
While a fight against McGregor might be out of the question for now, there is no doubt Muhammad is in the form of his life.
He is ranked #5 in his division and has called out the champion, Kamaru Usman too. There are other fights that Muhammad could take. One of them is a rematch with Leon Edwards.
The pair met in March 2021 but the fight was ended after an accidental eye poke from Edwards. The other fight that Muhammad could take is one against former title challenger Colby Covington.
Covington is also coming off a loss against Usman, and it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for Remember the Name.
