Belal Muhammad thanked AEW star and former UFC fighter CM Punk for his support
Belal Muhammad has been on a roll in the UFC. The 33-year old welterweight hasn’t lost a single fight since January 2019 – 6 fights unbeaten (1 no-contest against Leon Edwards).
His surge has seen him break into the top 5 of the welterweight rankings. He is probably a win or two away from fighting for the title.
In a recent interview with MMA journalist Helen Yee, AEW star CM Punk who was once a part of the UFC, revealed the fighters he loved to watch.
First among them was his buddy, Muhammad. Acknowledging the rich vein of form Muhammad is currently in, Punk also lauded his social media game.
He was quoted as saying:
“I love watching Belal Muhammad fight. Actually, it’s not true, I hate watching Belal fight because he’s a buddy of mine – so, it’s nerve-racking. I love watching him win, I think he’s on an incredible tear, and he’s maximizing the time that he has. He’s using his social media – 100% the right way.”
Muhammad quote tweeted the same with the caption: “[Love emojis] My brother.”
CM Punk confident about Conor McGregor coming over to wrestling world
CM Punk in a recent interview with ESPN SportsNation sounded about UFC’s biggest star Conor McGregor coming over to the wrestling world someday.
Bringing up the example of Floyd Mayweather doing the same, quite a while back, Punk said:
“A lot of the times — a lot of the sacrifice goes unnoticed. But it’s what it is. When [Floyd] Mayweather crossed over and did a match at WrestleMania, I’m sure we’re eventually going to see [Conor] McGregor come over… [Ronda] Rousey was excellent when she came over. The bottom line is making money. If you’re making money, you’re technically not really doing anything wrong.” [via Bloody Elbow]
McGregor is currently nursing an ankle injury he suffered during his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.
