Ben Askren does not fancy fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr after taking on Jake Paul
YouTuber-turned-professional-boxer Jake Paul will be taking on former UFC fighter Ben Askren in a boxing match on April 17th, 2021.
The two have been engaged in a war of words since it was announced and the stakes for the fight have been raised this week after Floyd Mayweather Jr stated that he would be up for fighting Jake Paul if he beats Askren.
Mayweather, of course, was primed to fight Jake’s brother, Paul Logan, in February this year. That fight was postponed due to various reasons, but Money says that it will be happening this year.
In an Instagram post, he revealed that he would be fighting exhibition matches this year. One would be against Logan, and one could be against Paul, if he manages to trump Funky.
Askren, as he loves to do, has butted himself in the conversation by stating that he would be fighting Pretty Boy after he’s done with beating Jake Paul.
Funky tweeted , “No after I beat up @jakepaul I will not box @FloydMayweather , that is shenanigans”.
Askren has a good sense of humour and he would most likely be joking here. But, the fight between him and Mayweather is not in a realm of impossibility.
If Money is willing to take on the Paul brothers, there is no reason why he would not be in for a bout against Askren. Just how badly Askren would lose is a different story.
Nevertheless, Askren and Jake Paul have each other to face before they can turn their attention to other big fights.
Askren might be a former Bellator champion, but all it takes inside the ring is one big punch to the face.
While the wrestler has been training hard for the Jake Paul boxing match, he was quick to say that this wasn’t a return to regular fighting.
Askren is coming off a serious hip injury and had to go under the knife. However, he added that he could take up fights if they were special, something that the Jake Paul one is.
