Beneil Dariush shares a brotherly bond with ‘The Highlight’ Justin Gaethje

Dariush is gearing up for his co-main event at UFC 262. The Iranian who is currently on a 6-fight win streak will be taking on the reeling Tony Ferguson.

The pre-fight press conference for UFC 262 just concluded, and it was Ferguson who stole the show, giving everyone especially UFC President Dana White a hard time controlling their laughter.

However, Ferguson hit out at Dariush for helping his friend Justin Gaethje fight for the interim lightweight title at UFC 249 (against Ferguson himself). Dariush, then, had immediately taken the next flight to Colorado, as soon as he had received a call from Gaethje to help him.

And then, Ferguson went on to bash both Dariush and Gaethje, which didn’t sit well with the Iranian. He seemed clearly irritated.

Dariush addressed this in an interview with the Schmo, backstage, after the pre-fight presser. The Iranian revealed that Gaethje has been such a helpful guy in his life, going on to say that he (Gaethje) used to even buy groceries for him during his time of weight-cutting.

Dariush also pointed out that he doesn’t care when someone abuses him, but wouldn’t be quiet if someone abuses the person he loves.

“You can say whatever you want about me and I am not going to be too bothered. But talking crap on the people that I like, people that I love, that get’s under my skin I guess.”

A bit of bad blood going into the fight?

Beneil Dariush is expecting the best version of Tony Ferguson at UFC 262

‘In the worst phase of his career, hasn’t won since June 2019, 12-fight win streak snapped last year, finished for the first time last year’ – Beneil Dariush still expects the best version of Tony Ferguson to turn up at UFC 262.

In the same interview Dariush told the Schmo:

“I am expecting the best Tony because…Shoot! It would be stupid to think anything else.”

Ferguson has indeed stepped up his training since his loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 256. He changed his nutritionists, began following a new diet pattern and, what’s more; he even hired legendary boxing trainer Freddie Roach.

Roach is one of the best boxing trainers in the game, and will be by Ferguson’s corner at UFC 262.
