Talks of Conor McGregor making an appearance in the WWE pop up quite frequently
Conor McGregor has been stuck in a rut of late. The Irishman has had a poor run of form since he became a two-division champion against Eddie Alvarez in 2016.
Since then, he has won just one fight, against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246. He has lost 3 fights – 1 against Khabib Nurmagomedov and 2 against Dustin Poirier.
The Irishman recently lost to Dustin Poirier in a trilogy bout at UFC 264, last week. He suffered a horrific ankle break at the end of the first round, which resulted in the fight being awarded to Poirier via. TKO due to a doctor stoppage.
WWE Superstar Big E gave his honest thoughts about Conor McGregor in an interview with Vibe & Wrestling. He acknowledged the star that McGregor is and his immense fame, before going on to speak about McGregor crossing over to the WWE.
“He’s a massive star. He was number one on Forbes for the entire world. He was the most paid athlete in the world. He’s a huge star. He’s a bigger name than I am, that’s quite clear, and a bigger name than pretty much anyone we have. As far as crossover ability, if you ask your neighbor ‘who is this?’ there is a good chance they will know Conor McGregor.” [via Fightful]
Big E spoke further about McGregor’s legal troubles. ‘The Irishman’ has had his fair share of run-ins with the law. He has been arrested multiple times over several legal issues.
According to Big E, McGregor’s legal troubles are a thing of concern. He claimed that would be the only criteria that would bother him.
Big E said:
“For me, the only stuff that bothers me, it’s not my position to judge him but it’s the legal stuff. I take pride when I look around the locker room, I’m not saying things are perfect, but I want to be in a locker room with people who are good people and obey the law and aren’t getting in trouble. There are things that he’s done that I wish he hadn’t, but, who am I to cast the first stone? If he comes over and represents himself well and carries himself in a way that is respectful, so be it.” [via Fightful]
