The latest ranking update saw several changes in the UFC pound-for-pound rankings

UFC 263 just concluded, and it saw a new champion being crowned. Brandon Moreno defeated Deiveson Figueiredo in the co-main event to become the first Mexican-born UFC champion in the history of the promotion.

Moreno was taking on Figueiredo in a rematch, after having previously fought the Brazilian at UFC 256 (match ended in a majority draw).

In the main event of UFC 263, Israel Adesanya successfully defended his middleweight title for the third successive time against Italian, Marvin Vettori. A slick Izzy won the fight. via unanimous decision.

Following his victory over Vettori, Adesanya called out number one ranked middleweight contender Robert Whittaker for a rematch.

Brandon Moreno in, Deiveson Figueiredo out

The UFC rankings were updated following UFC 263, and it saw Brandon Moreno break into the men’s pound-for-pound rankings for the very first time. He came in at number 12.

His opponent, Deiveson Figueiredo was ousted from the pound-for-pound rankings following his defeat.

Adesanya gained one place in the pound-for-pound rankings, displacing Alexander Volkanovski and moving on to number 3.

Robert Whittaker and Charles Oliveira gained one place and moved to number 10 and number 11 respectively.

Other significant changes in the rankings saw Vettori slip one place down to number 4 in the middleweight rankings. Jared Cannonier replaced him at number 3.

Following his win over Demian Maia, Belal Muhammad moved three places to number 9 in the welterweight rankings, while Maia dropped to number 11.

Paul Craig beat Jamahal Hill in the first event of the main card, which saw the Scot gain two places and move to number 12 in the light-heavyweight rankings.
